Advice on Mirena

Hi all, I'm 47 and perimenopausal. I was having heavy periods every two weeks so went to GP and as I also suffer from migraine with aura, was put on the Cerelle mini pill. I have bled every day for the past five months and feel like a completely different person - crying, the rage. Not at all myself. So, I now an appointment for the Mirena coil on Monday. My concern is that as progesterone has not clearly not sorted my bleeding issues, am I likely to have the same issues on the Mirena? My GP says no because the dose is so much lower but just wondering if anyone has had this experience and what happened on the Mirena? Thanks everyone!!

Yes, I’m my experience if you have issues with one progesterone only method you will have issues with them all. Difference is they can refuse to remove the coil so you are stuck with it. Maybe worth a try but loads of people have bleeding issues with the mirena too so just one to keep in mind, good luck

I'm 49 and never bled with mine other than a few days after insertion. Saying that I was on the pop while bf and didn't bleed on it either. Getting mine replaced next week and it will do me until I'm 55 and hopefully done with the menopause. I flipping love my mirena
