Drop and Mini Pill

I had depo many years ago and it turned me into an acne ridden hormonal mess with depression. It took years to get my skin back to normal but me mental health improved very quickly.

GP has suggested mini pill but isn’t this essentially the same as depo and I’ll most likely have the same side effects again?

Any insight would be most appreciated.

Depo gave me constant spotting and maf e me put on loads of weight. The mini pill stopped my periods and didn't affect my weight. The depo had a different hormone to the one I had in the mini pill (desogestrel)
