Mini pill or combined pill?

I went back on the pill on the 21st May after having DC1.

Left the doctors having been convinced to try the mini pill, even though I originally went to get the combined pill having been on it for 10 years prior to TTC. Regretted it almost immediately after starting and more so now after starting an awful period even though I was only warned about potential 'light irregular bleeding' but more than likely having none at all.

I'm planning on going back to see the GP and ask to be put on the combined pill, (think I'd essentially tried to fix something that wasn't broken). I know it can take a few months to settle but I'd rather have my regular withdrawal bleed than irregular bleeding.

Any success stories that might convince me to stick with Cerelle? And if I get the combined pill can I just stop the mini pill and go straight back onto it? Will I be covered immediately?

Thanks Smile

Are you breastfeeding? Combined pill is not recommended while BF as the estrogen hormones have a negative effect on milk supply.

No I'm not, baby is formula fed Smile

Oh I wonder why they recommended the mini pill then! If you’d been happy with combined before. Not sure about switching between but they’ll explain to you when you go to get it right?

I wasn't sure either! Wish I'd just stuck to my guns now!

Yeah true, well my next available appointment is next Monday so will just have to stick with the mini pill until then Smile

I used the implant which is the same hormone as the mini pill, I had spotting for a few weeks then no period for 2 years. So might be worth sticking it out if you can manage.

@eeanne that's interesting, thank you!
My bleeding started on Tuesday but is very heavy now (sorry for TMI!)
Yesterday I resorted to my maternity pads after having to change sanitary towels every couple of hours.
This is my first period after giving birth 5 weeks ago, and obviously now being on the mini pill.
Anyone know that this is normal? I expected to be heavy but the bleeding is on a par with how I was the first few days post-natal Confused
