Hey ladies, I just had DD nearly 5 months ago and I'm struggling to choose a method of contraception. I'll give you a quick run down

Started on the pill around 17. Tried a few different ones but had alot of side effects.
Used the patch for a while. Not sure why I switched off this.
Fell pregnant on the pill late 2008 but terminated and got the implant which was awful. Constant bleeding, messed up cycles etc. I spent over a year trying to get my doctor to remove it but they refused. I eventually went to a family planning clinic and they took it out in Jan 2010.

I had regular cycles before I went on contraception but after coming off the implant, I rarely had periods. I met DH in 2011 and it took us until 2017 to conceive DD (obviously not TTC the whole time but never any contraception used). My doctor kept telling me that all my tests were normal but I believe that I had a problem with (possibly low) estrogen as I used Soy Isoflavones to conceive.

Ever since DD was born my cycles seem to be heavier but regular again! I want to go on contraception but ideally I'd like another child in a couple of years so I don't want to mess my cycle up again!

I've considered the coil but I'm worried I'll have similar problems to the implant. Anyone have any advice?

Copper coil. Non hormonal, in for up to 8 years but you can have it removed at any point!

Why not try the patch again if it worked?
Your implant story sounds exactly like mine. The coil can take a long time to settle down or just not settle down at all and you say you would like another baby in a few years anyway. This is what I would do, hope this helps

If you want another baby in a couple of years anyway then why not just use condoms?

It sounds like Natural Cycles would be perfect for you! Have you heard of it? They have tonnes of great info on their website and you can sign up for a free trial www.naturalcycles.com Smile

I also have a link that gives you 30% off the first year with a thermometer included. Here it is: www.naturalcycles.com/en/signup/secret?code=referralid30&referral=67dd635dd95743059e65c92c1084b759

Hope you find a solution that works for you!

Maybe think about giving the injection a try? They sold the implant to me as being the same as the jag - bollocks. Two years of the implant, 2 stone on, implant out, back on the jag and no further weight gain. Was on jag for 8 years, stopped it and pregnant 4 months later. Worth asking about
