Breast swelling- which contraception helps with this?

I suffer with awful swollen breasts from about 10 days before my period- they go up about 2 cup sizes- and I also get pretty bad general bloating and heavy periods. This has been ongoing since I finished breast feeding about 4 years ago, but has got worse in the last year or so. I exercise regularly, eat well, take Omega 3 and have had blood tests/ seen GP, and these all came back fine.

I haven't been on any contraception since having my son 5 years ago and have been reticent up to this point. However, the breast swelling is really painful and dehabilitating (and i hate the increase in size- i do lots of running, and silly as it sounds, the increase impacts this, not to mention the fact that my tops don't fit me). My GP says that really the only thing that will address this is some form of hormonal contraception.

So... does anyone know which form of contraception is best to specifically address breast swelling? I realise it's completely individual but wondered if anyone had a positive experience in terms of this specific symptom and if so, which contraception you used. The mirena coil was suggested by the GP as i previously had the implant and it gave me awful headaches, and marvelon which caused me significant weight gain. Thank you Smile
