is it the pill?

hi guys, i wonder if you could help me. i started a new pill just a little bit over a month ago and im wondering if im having side effects.

so my last period started 23rd feb, on day 5 of my pill because it came one week late. on the 8th march i had pink spotting and backache. 9th march, i had brown cm and mild period pains that lasted about 20 mins ish. i dont ever usually spot in the middle of my cycles. on the 11th march i had awful cramps ( right side, for me the cramps were worse than if they were normal period pains) and backache for about six hours. since then ive have had more than usual cm, sore uterus area (can't fasten jeans) on and off cramps, back ache sometimes worse than others, and sore breasts.

today is 14th march and not including tonights, i have 4 pills left in the packet and my period is due 23rd march.
im on loestrin 20.

I'm confused by the dates - you started the pill a little over a month ago but have 4 left in the pack?

Are there not 28 in each pack (assuming mini pill)?

Have you missed some?

Why did you not start on the first day of your period?

It could be the pill, especially as it sounds like you started at an odd point in your cycle, more so if you've missed some.

Any chance you could be pregnant? Was your period normal or very light?

I started the mini pill when DD was 3 months and it caused havoc (previously was happily period free and bf), I stopped after 2 months.

so i was on cilest and i hated it. i had 5 days left but stopped taking that and took 5 days of the loestrin 20. then i stopped for the pill free week. then i started the pill back up. i took the first week then i missed one. i had the one i missed int he morning and then should of had the one that night but forgot again. i probably shouldn't of but i stopped the packet a week before i was meant to and had the 7 day break as well. we avoided sex in this 2 weeks. i was supposed to get my period between 12th - 18th of feb but i didn't. the nurse said it was fine to not have my period then and just start new pack which i did on the 19th, then had my period on day 5, 23rd feb.

loestrin 20 is 21 pill packet.
the period i had on the 19th was normal for me, flow and length.

before this pill i was put on cilest did almost 4 months on that and was put on that as my mirena coil of 4 years came out.

Ok so not the mini pill. It sounds like changing pills might have delayed your period/breakthrough bleed, and your cycle might just need to settle, late/missed pills probably not helping.

If you're sure you're not pregnant I'd carry on as directed, your cycle should stabilise so that you bleed on your pill free days. It might take a few months though since it's so out of sync at the moment. Hopefully the other symptoms will go away soon as well.
