Copper coil removal + periods

Hiya

If you’ve had a copper coil and it gave you heavy periods, how did you find it when you had the coil taken out?

I’ve had a copper coil for 18 months and my periods are heavy. I’m thinking of having it taken out in the summer because I’m getting married in October and would like to try and avoid the risk of having a heavy period on my wedding day.

If you had the coil and it made your periods heavier, did they get lighter again when you had it taken out?

Thanks! Smile

I was on the coil for 12months, had it taken out this morning as I'm TTC.
I had heavier periods but I put up with them as I found the coil was excellent towards my cycle & the bonus is it's got no hormones in it.
Your fertility comes back as soon as it's taken out so you will need to look for other forms of contracepetion.
The procedure itself was so straight forward, I had an awful time with the insertion but removal was simple. Legs up, spectrum in , cough & they pull it out.
Slight cramp but fades soon after
