Anyone taken norethisterone?

My gp prescribed me norethisterone to restart my periods having come off the pill 6 months ago, I took them in December and it did the trick and I had a 7 day bleed however after that I didn’t have another one for 50 days which was last Thursday but for 2 days before it started I had the worst cramps and I have had really bad depression all week which is unusual for me as I’m usually a really happy person, I’ve literally been crying all week and today burst out crying in Tesco for no reason at all. Has this happened to anyone else? I actually feel like I’m going mad.

I’ve been on it. I was given it to try and control heavy bleeding from a copper coil. It’s progrsterone in a really large dose so when you come off of it your progesterone (the hormone which keeps the lining of your womb in place) drops and you have an artificial period. It’s why women are given it when they go on holiday and want to delay there period. It would give you one artificial period but I don’t see how it would restart a natural cycle but I’m not a drConfused. The cramps were the reason I didn’t continue with it. It was awful on top of the already horrendous cramps from the coil and it didn’t stop the bleeding either. It is a large dose of hormones but hopefully you will balance out soon just give yourself time and don’t worry too much as it tends to make these sorts of things worse. I know it’s easier said than done! Best of luck!
