Mercilon contraceptive pill.. help?

I am currently on the injection and I hate it. I went to the GP and he’s given my Rigevidon to take when the injection wears off inestead. I have googled though and it has horrific side effects, and a lot of reports of blood clots etc.
I’ve done a bit of online research and I’m thinking about ordered mercilon from the Superdrug online Doctors as it seems to have no awful horror stories.
Has anyone taken this? Any reviews??

I'm on this
Slight nausea one night in the first week, apart from that, no problem.

Silly question but how old are you? I had just read that it is used on older ladies as their less fertile as it has a lower dose!? I don’t want another baby! Did your doctor prescribe it? Thank you.

I was on it for a few years in my 30s, no problems on it and no pregnancies.

I started taking mercilon in my mid teens until my late twenties. Never had any bad side effects with it or any pregnancies.

Hi, I have never taken this but I have taken millinette 20 which has a very low dose (eventually got the same headaches as with Microgynon30, Rigevidon and cilest so was taken off it) but I don’t think it would be any less effective. I would talk to your dr before taking any combined pill though as the side effects from these types of pill can be really serious,
Hope this helps

Oh yes, doctor prescribed, when I was in my 30s

Wouldn't there be breakthrough bleeding if the dose was too low?

Is the Superdrug thing without a prescription? I wouldn't do that.

Honey2468 · 23/12/2017 21:31

It didn’t with me, just the same as the higher dose. I think because there is a still a break to allow for a bleed you don’t get the break through bleeding all over the place like you do with progesterone only that you take every day. Every woman is different though I guess

Yeah it’s called Superdrug online doctor.. it asks you all the usual questions and then gets their doctor to check it before sending it out to you. I can’t get another doctors app until after my injection wears off which isn’t the end of the world but I would rather be covered.. but these horror stories about the pill I’ve read are really putting me off taking it and making me think I might be better with mercilon Xmas Sad

This is the best thing that has ever happened to me. It’s been the ONLY bc that works for me. I have endometriosis and it lightened my periods so much. I only became sexually active about a year ago, and no scares or problems either. It does exactly what it’s supposed to do and it changed my life - healthexpress.co.uk/mercilon
