Mirena coil - weight gain

I have had the Mirena coil for years. I also have PCOS which can cause weight problems. I have started to think that I became overweight shortly after having my first mirena fitted. I'm not sure if I am kidding myself though and pinning the blame on that. I'm happy with the Mirena otherwise, I have no periods etc.
I'm considering trying the copper coil but am concerned about heavy bleeding as currently have none.
Has anyone genuinely thought their weight gain was the result of the Mirena and lost any weight after having it removed?

It's funny because I feel exactly the same. I had my Mirena put in after ds who is now 3 and have gained a bit of weight (not tonnes but I am definitely bigger than I was between having DD and DS) and i just can't shift it. But then again I do eat some crap (although not really different from before) and i am getting older so maybe it just is going to get more difficult to keep it off.

I have researched a bit and unfortunately I can't find much to suggest it causes weight gain, not like the pill anyway (which incidentally I was a skinny Minnie when I was on!)

I am looking forward to getting this coil out tbh, it's not so horrendous that I am begging it to be out but it's not what I thought - I still have periods, my skin is horrendous at certain times of the month and I get horrid mood swings as well. It will be interesting to see what happens when I get it out in a couple of years.

I have always been led to believe that contraception can increase hunger therefore can lead to weight gain.

My worst weight gain was with the implant. I was always hungry. The Mirena was a bit better but still very hungry lol. When I had it out to try for DD, my hunger did decrease.

I'm now on the pill, and my hunger dramatically increases in the pill free week.

Not easy being a woman is it? Lol 😂

I think I gained weight with mirena but it's such an easy contraceptive that I haven't had it removed. It's not a lot of weight but it's very hard to shift. Maybe it's middle age spread

I am 28 with no children and have recently had the coil fitted for medical reasons due to on going gynae issues and I am really struggling with the weight gain. I have put on over a stone in 4 months since it was fitted and it really getting me down. How's long this horrible bloated feeling last for?

It is really getting me down I can no longer fit it any of my clothes.

Any advice on how to keep it under control would be really appreciated!
