Copper coil.. what to expect?

Hi! For many reasons we've opted for the copper coil. It's getting fitted in a few days and I'm just wondering if anyone can let me know what to expect in the next few weeks?
I've been advised to expect irregular and heavy cycle for the next year... but is that like instantaneous? Or do you get a week or two grace 😂

Hi Holey. I've used the copper coil over the last few years in between pregnancies. I love it, because I don't get on with hormonal contraceptives at all.
I have found that it makes my periods heavier and more painful yes, and it was instant. But I had very light periods before using it, so the difference wasn't too awful. I think if you are prone to quite heavy periods anyway it might not be for you.

That said, it definitely got less noticeable over time. Good Luck!!
