Mirena coil - anyone else get boils/spots?

Hia, I've had the Mirena coil for a few years and occurred to me that it might be connected to a problem that I've had for a similar amount of time.

I started out getting the odd spot here and there in my armpit and bra area and progressed to what I would call large painful boils that occasionally popped and had blood/pus in them. (Yes, that is as horrible as it sounds)

I went to the docs aprox 6 months ago and they said it was infected boils, gave me antibiotics and a blood test to check infection gone.

Now they're coming back - not as bad/big as before but painful and I'm just wondering if anyone else has had something similar or had boils caused by any hormonal problem or pill.

Thanks in advance for any help people might be able to give. Smile

I used to get the odd boil at the time I was due (first Mirena I still had periods, the second I didn't). They were always on my chin though.

That's interesting, I have never made the connection, but I have had several since my Mirena was fitted 16 months ago. Have had the odd one in the past but not a crop of them!

Had horrendous forehead and neck spots around my hairline whilst mirena in, genuinely never had spots before or since, not even in teenage years. Got them every month when period due so assuming hormone related, maybe the mirena just meant I had a little too much of whatever the hell the hormone is...

I have a Mirina coil, had them for ten years now.(I'm on my third coil) and it's a great food option.

I often get boils, usually around my er....... lady garden, I always put it down to shaving, it never crossed my mind that they only started after I had my first coil inserted.

Damn, it supposed to say "a great FP option, not food!
