Jaydess Coil Rational Review

I wanted to write an honest and rational review on my experience thus far with the Jaydess coil as there are more than enough horror stories about them. (Bear with me as it's my first thread on here)

Firstly the insertion was in early March. It's uncomfortable, but the more you tense yourself in preparation for pain, the more painful it is, plus the tighter it all is and the harder they have to push. Try really hard to just breathe and believe in mind over matter. I used to pass out from period pains and have passed out from a painful copper coil before, so I'm not unaware of extreme pain. It is over as soon as they've finished inserting it, so bear with it!

Then I had an induced period from the insertion, this was very unsatisfying because it never seemed to stop. However, it actually did stop after just over a week and then followed six weeks of every day, brown, slightly smelly, slightly gross discharge. My period did come somewhere in between, but not on my usual 28 day cycle.

This is my second time with the Jaydess, the first time I had it removed because I left my ex and chose to abstain and be free from contraception for a while. I've had copper coils before but they left me very tired from heavy heavy periods (and in A&E after sex once) and I've tried all sorts of pills only to lose my sex drive, go crazy over nothing and have bad skin.

I have to agree with some people that from having great skin, I now have relatively poop skin on my back and chest and the odd horrendous spot on my face. But I'm also trying different creams at the moment and sweating a lot at the gym, so I can't guarantee this is Jaydess.

With regards to weight gain, a lot of women have said they're with WeightWatchers etc so maybe random weight gain is not necessarily a result of the coil, personally I am not exercising or eating more or less and feel no bloating. I am as pudgy in the belly region as I was before. My mood, compared to the pill, is fine and with the pill I used to be mega tantrum-y. My sex drive has dipped a little but I think it's cause my body just knows it can't have babies.

Hope this is useful to someone. My doctor said that the hormone levels are a third of the pill, so side effects can only be so so small in comparison. My recommendation is this, if you don't want to get pregnant and are fed up of being moody from the pill or had crazy periods from other coils try this out.
