Seeing a private gynae any advice?

Hi all,
I'm attending a consultation with a private gynaecologist this evening. I'm just looking for some advice or experiences from you guys.
My partner and I have been ttc for 15 months, but my cycles are completely screwed up - I'm irregular but I also bleed for weeks at a time then don't bleed for ages then have all different sorts of spotting and I can never tell if it's a period or not.
I'm just wondering how to explain this to gynae. The two may or may not be linked. Do I start with telling her about our lengthy ttc process? Or about the messed up cycles? Also I don't even know how to word it... I can't exactly say 'my cycles are screwed' lol.
I have had basic bloods and an internal swab at my NHS surgery so I guess I should also tell her about the outcome of these.

As far as im concerned this is just a consultation, but has anybody here gone to a consultation (private) and they end up doing anything else? (scan, internal, etc)

Thanks in advance
