Northisterone and periods

Sorry if this wrong place to post - i can't find anywhere else to put it. Also this may end up being a long post so apologies in advance...

Basically I've had abnormal bleeding for approx 2 years, finally went to docs about it, and got referred to gynaecology. Aside from calling me fat, (the consultant didn't even bother reading my notes, asked about cerazette and how that was helping my bleeding... not been on it since 2010/11...but that's all another story and will cause me to get on my soap box) she eventually gave me Northisterone. Told me to take it for 6 months, 3 weeks on, 1 week off. I have just started my first break week on Wednesday last week, started bleeding Thursday night/Friday morning. And last night (Saturday night) I started bleeding so heavy I had to leave work and buy super plus tampons, and currently I'm going through a super plus tampon at about 1 and a half hours... I'm currently passsing a lot of clots and I'm also using a night time pad. Reached a peak today too I woke up after 5 hours sleep ( I'm currently working night shifts at work) needing the toilet and the blood just pretty much gushed out. I couldn't help but cry while OH cleaned up after me.

My question is, is this normal? I know it isn't normal for me, I have PCOS. And normally have one or 2 periods a year up until a couple years ago when bleeding started. But with having the Northisterone I wasn't sure if it is. I don't think I can do this every month if it's going to be every break week.
