Bleeding on pill

I'm 8 weeks post partum and started the pill a week and a half ago. This morning I've woken up to a little bit of blood in my underwear and more when I wipe. It enough for a period, but not what I'd call spotting. Kind of like if you grazed your knee and wiped it with a tissue. I have taken my last two pills a bit later than the others (not a day late. The others I've had in the morning and the last two I've had kind of late afternoon) but the doctor told me that would be fine. Does anyone know why this would have happened?

As you say you have skipped some pills, then yes breakthrough bleeding is not uncommon.

Neither is irregular bleeding when you start taking a pill, as your cycle settles to the new hormone levels.

But if you're worried, go and see a family planning nurse or your GP.
