Copper coil fitted last week, am now bleeding...

My baby is almost 4 months and exclusively breast feeding on demand.
I had a copper coil fitted last week, had sex for first time since fitting coil last night and have been lightly bleeding since lunchtime. Do I need to worry? Wasn't expecting a period until baby started weaning so not sure what's happening. Can't remember when periods returned after stopping feeding my first baby. Any advice/experience? Don't want to pester the GP just yet.

As far as I'm aware you are not allowed to have sex for a few weeks after fitting to reduce the risk of infection.

If would have it checked if after tomorrow it still doesn't resemble a normal period. Having said that... There is no normal after a coil.

Yes bleeding stopped after 6 days, was really heavy though. Then had another period last week. Saw GP for 6 week check middle of July, she said not to worry about the bleeding but if it got really heavy or frequent to come back. Gonna see how it goes! Good luck Yvonne, hope yours settles.
