Sterilisation: which method? side effects?

Hello,

I'm considering sterilisation as I've had my babies, can't take anything hormonal and my husband can't have a vasectomy. It's condoms or sterilisation, in other words.

If you've had it done, which method did you choose? how long did it take to recover? I have a 4 yo, 2yo and an 8th old so lots of time lying in bed isn't really an option (well, at least without having someone jump on you). And how did it affect you psychologically?

Many thanks

I haven't had one myself, but the (handful of) people I know who have all have clips and a procedure that was carried out laparoscopically. And none have mentioned side effects to me.

The Essure procedure is much newer and I don't know anyone who's had it.

I have a vasectomised DH. Even though it wasn't me getting done, I did have a distinct wobble at the difference between deciding our family is complete and the actual permanent removal of the possibility of ever having another as a couple. I say wobble, because it only hit very briefly just before the op was done. It didn't lead to any regrets whatsoever.
