Unsuccessful vasectomy

My husband has been to have a vasectomy today but during the procedure the doctor told him he couldn't find one of his vas deferens (tubes that carries semen) he said it was very rare and had a hard time finding the other one as well!
He was told that he has to referred to the hospital to operate on it properly so he has to be put to sleep, anyone had this done?
Has anybody even heard about this before? Have tried googling it but not much had come up!

The human body has a lot of variability and it's possible that he was born with only one functioning tube (the other being absent or very weirdly routed).

The thing the doctor did that was right was to know his limitations and refer.

Vasectomies are sometimes performed under GA anyhow - it's a fairly delicate part of the body, and if a man gets one of the serious complications then treatment options are limited and may not be successful. Much better for your DH to be in the hands of a urologist.

The GP probably was a bit crap. Just hope he hasn't messed up the nerves in there as he could be in for long term chronic pain. The Vas isn't hard to find at all.
