help finding threads

I can't be bothered to name change,

after recent termination I had a mirena coil fitted last week, have gone today to try and find the threads but I'm not sure I'm doing it right/looking for the right thing

what do the threads feel like and how far up do I need to feel? consultant said she'd left them long but I can't find the darn things, doesn't help that my cervix is tilted to the left either making it more akward

any advice would be gratefully appreaciated. I feel like a fool Haha

Try this: put one foot up on side of bath or toilet, then put two fingers into your vagina, and push upwards until you feel something firm (feels like the end of your nose) - this is the cervix. Gently run the tip of a finger over the cervix and you should feel the threads. You can't put your fingers too far in, so don't be afraid to push them inside as far as they can go!

If you can't feel the threads after a few attempts, don't panic but use alternative contraception (eg. condoms) or don't have sex for now, just in case the Mirena is no longer in the womb, and see a health care professional asap for a coil check.

My doc said that the threads can coil themselves round the cervix and put themselves in the little 'pouches' round the sides of the cervix which kinda hangs down like the tip of the nose into the vagina, so there's a kind of 'moat' shape surrounding it. Go to the cervix opening then round the 'moat' and if you still can't feel anything best take a trip to the FPC :) Good luck!
