Which Coil

Ok so, I have a history of heavy painful periods, mainly because I'm gluten intolerant, when I stopped eating the gluten my periods became "normal", also, when on the contraceptive pill I can get really angry, really quickly and quite weepy. I've been looking at other forms of contraceptive and I'm drawn to the coil. I just don't know which one, I haven't had children and don't know if that would affect it, also, my sister had the copper coil before having children and it triggered endometriosis for her, but the mirena coil has the hormones and I don't want to turn into a raging, crying mess for the next five years (I'd insist on having it out before that, but you get the point)
Has anyone on here had both coils before they had children? Or has anyone had both at all? Could you tell me your experiences so I can make my decision. Thanks

I've had both... Copper coil in between dc1 & 2 and mirena after dc2.

Copper coil made my periods super heavy (not something I was used to). Mirena didn't effect me hormonally (but then nor did the pill) but my periods stopped altogether and my face was covered in spots.... I lasted just over a year with it

I've had the mirena and I'm thinking of getting the copper coil. The mirena was fine but I learned recently that the hormones in it (and therefore also in the pill/injection etc) had been making my pain from hypermobile joints worse. My new gp was very Hmm that no one had mentioned it before.

I had a copper coil after first child and hated it, constant bleeding, thrush from wearing pads omg, never again. My mum on the other hand had one 40+ years ago, pre children and thought it was wonderful, you never know if something's going to work for you until you try it. It may well make your periods heavier though.
