I have recently started taking the micronor progesterone only pill, after many years without using any sort of contraception XH had the snip, new partner hasn't.
I am 50, so POP was the best option. I started taking it on day 2 of my period which would normally have lasted 3/4 days. I am now at day 6 of my period and still bleeding. Is this normal after starting to take a POP. GP said periods could be irregular or stop but didn't mention that in starting this my period would continue longer?

I bled every two weeks with micronor. changed to cerazette and that stopped my periods completely

Thanks dementedpixie, how long did you try micronor for before going back to gp?

I was on it for a few months. I tried a femulen mini pill which also gave me fortnightly periods so had tried 2 types before switching to cerazette

Hi Startingover231 & dementedpixie, I also am debating whether to take Micronor for the first time or not? I recently went to see a contraception nurse who gave me a list of the three-hour progestogen-only pill: Micronor being top of list then Femulen or Norgeston & am unsure which one to take? My doctor prescribed me Cerelle but read so many bad reviews on here I was dubious about taking it so went back to speak to the nurse instead. Many of the woman said they was on Cerazette but was either told it wasn't available anymore or just given Cerelle in place of it & wasn't told & them started getting ally of bad side effects from it. My nurse told me the same thing as in name change. I have just turned 40 & just had my 2nd child 2months ago & have not been on the pill for over 4 years now but they won't let me go back on Mercilon (was on it for over 14 years with no problems) but because of my age (& have some slight Verrucous vein come up on my right ankle), I also have verrucous veins history in both parents, they won't allow me, so am unsure what pill is the best one?
