My Mirena just fell out!

[name change]

I was washing in the shower today and felt the metal string outside of my vagina, I pulled gently and out it came with some clots and mucus on it.

I'm a bit worried - I obviously need to get it checked out by the clinic but am not feeling that I want to have another one put in.

I had my Mirena put in two months ago. I've had two periods since and spotting and cramps throughout - plus I think I could always feel it slightly. Hard to tell if this was placebo effect, the cramping or if it was not in place properly. I've also been very lethargic.

I'm not concerned I'm pregnant as we've not had sex since I had it put in as I've felt rubbish the whole time (so much for a worry-free contraception!).

I am worried however as I've felt up in my vagina and my cervix feels quite open. I had an abortion in the summer and I'm concerned that there's been a lot of unnatural 'messing around' with my uterus and cervix and hope it's not going to cause any long lasting effects as I would like more children in the future.

Hope you're ok Smile and I would make an appointment to find out why it fell out and get checked out too.

I rang them up and the first thing they asked was if I'd like to book in an appointment to get another one fitted. Then they said, actually we don't have any appointments but you can come to the walk in clinic. We are very busy though, you may have to wait a while. Marvellous!

I'm going to see how I go for the next few days. Not keen on getting another fitted. More likely I'd like to just get myself checked out.
