Nexplanon and insomnia?

I've tried scrolling through the Nexplanon thread but I've not seen anyone list insomnia as their side effect.

I've often struggled with insomnia when stressed at work and when I was pregnant I had a regular sleep pattern that involved being awake from 3-5am.

But this feels different. I'm getting bad patches of insomnia every few weeks. I can go to sleep fine but I wake up v early - last night was 1.30am and I haven't been back to sleep yet.

It's only today I've started to wonder if this cycle of insomnia matches the heavy bleeding I'm getting since I had the implant.

Has anyone else experienced insomnia on Nexplanon? Am I clutching at straws?

It's not just you. I had the Nexplanon implant about 18 months ago. For the first month, until it settled, I was a complete hormonal lunatic, for about 6 months it was all good and then for the last 8 or 9 months, it's been horrendous. At first I didn't get to sleep and now it's altered and I get to sleep fine but wake up at ridiculous times and can't get back to sleep. I'm completely knackered. I also have mood swings and lows so bad I thought I was losing my mind. Last weekend I was inconsolable for an hour because my boyfriend had got a cold and so wasn't enjoying our bank holiday weekend away as much as I had wanted. I cried for an hour over someone having a cold. And it isn't the first display like this either. My boyfriend is displaying unheard of levels of patience with me but even he is now suggesting it might be healthier for me to have it removed. And so I am. Good luck and maybe it would be worth you considering having it removed too, a lot of ladies on the boards are also having terrible problems with it.

I think I had implanon as it was a few years ago but it sent be dolally. I couldn't remember which side of road to drive on or think straight at all and my then husband couldn't say anything right. Literally could stand to even hear his voice. Thrush like the doctor had never seen too. I tried for a year but then had it removed. If in any doubt I'd get it taken out.

Give it 3 months then have it removed they may refuse you so what you do then is tell them you want to have a baby. Then they will have to remove and then find your nearest clinic and sort something else out. Have you thought about the cap or the other one my brain has gone to mush. No hormones you just insert it every night. I have had this in for 3 months and I have had a period for 4 weeks. I may give the cap a try. My baby seems to be a good contraception he always wants to sleep next to me at night.

It is starting to feel a bit sore down there and I am up to at silly hour o'clock. 4 weeks ago I switched it was like it wasn't me I was so tearful and agitated and now I am on a 4 week period fantastic.

It was a bad forbearance ever since i’ve it inserted it on may 2018.Fortunately i removed it on Feb 2019. It only last on me for 9 months. The first 3 months when i’ve just inserted it was a pleasant month for. Normal cycle of period and is not heavy. after 3 months. I started not to have menses irregularly. My mood changes. My back spine was badly ache and pain subsequently whenever is going up taround my menses cycle. On the fourth to fifth months i have no period coming in which makes me feel strained as i got easily tired. On the 6th to 8th months my menses was heavily flow like everyweek. Which i’m an able to sum up for a month, it only stop for four days. 27/28 days i was on period!! My life sucks up with four kids to manage. My youngest was only 1 yr and 8 months. The lowest part of my months when i was about on 9 months on this implanon, i started to get more tired, anxious for no reason, sleepless night (at times i dont sleep for two days,my heart was pumping and aching.) i started feeling dizziness. Hard breathing. And i was once been rush down to the hospital for emergency . Due to hard breathing attack, my feet and hands right up to my spine was numb. I could not even move myself around and it is getting stiffen and i was catching out of breath. Heavy period makes my body feel weak. And it really shit spoil my everyday life . And so i took out the implanon in a week time after the worst attack. It seem to get better but not totally myself like i used to be. It takes time to recover. Hope so. Please do not insert implanon!!

Hey! I had experienced the exact same thing these last few months. It seems at the onset of my period, I am suddenly unable to sleep. This last till the end of my period. I think this might have something to do with the nexplonon, as i never had these problems before starting it. I did not have this problem at the beginning of getting nexplonon, but rather 6 months in.
