who put it in for you? Why on earth can't the family planning clinic remove it?

mollysmummy1970 · 24/04/2014 09:15

The family planning clinic should be doing it. That's where I got mine out and in. And if they're telling you that they can't then why aren't they telling u where u can go?

P.s it's very common not to bleed with the mc, that's why I love it!

When I rang them they said the nurse that use to do it doesn't work there no more they gave me another number to ring and they should b able to tell me where I can go but iv rang it 10 time now 4 times yesterday and 6 times today and its just ringing out wen I rang FP back to see if they had a diff number for me to ring they just said that that was the only one they had and for me to just keep trying feel like I'm getting no where thou Iv also rang a few other family plannings tht can could travel to but they said they wouldn't be able to see me as I don't live in that area feel like I'm at braking point now :(

I had it fitted at the hospital as I had to end a pregnacy as the baby was very unwell and I couldn't ever put my self though that agen so I thought that would b the best thing for me to get put in the doctors there said if I ever wanted it out then my GP would be able to remove :/ clearly they can't .. Just don't no where to go from here now :(

what do they do then if someone is replacing their mirena after 5 years?? Surely the person who fits them can also remove them? Sounds bizarre and very annoying for you.

WhoNickedMyName · 24/04/2014 16:59

I don't get why GP's don't take these damn things out.

I took mine out myself a few years ago. Depends how squeamish you are though Grin. Give your hands a good scrub first, get the strings between your thumb and forefinger, and pull slowly but firmly. Stop straight away if there's any resistance or pain. Mine came out no problem. Went for a smear about three months later and told the nurse what I did and she said that although she'd advise against it, that's pretty much all they do anyway - though they have the help of a speculum.

ilovepowerhoop · 24/04/2014 17:06

there's a lot on google about people doing it themselves or getting their partner to do it for them. Its supposed to be easier to remove it than to insert it

bexs3ebb · 24/04/2014 21:02

Iv heard that you can do it yourself but I really don't fancy doing it myself I don't like anything like that I'm in catch 22 all the time I'm going to ring the hospital tomoz see what they have to say about it
