Copper coil bleeding and pain

5 days ago I had the copper coil fitted, the fitting was absolutely fine, not painful at all. I did feel quite ill as fainty afterwards for half an hour but then it was alright.
However, since then I have had a continuous low pain like those I get if my period pains are particularly bad (which hasn't been the case for years) and bleeding. The bleeding is not heavy, rather brown and like the blood at the end of a period. Is this something I should be worried about? The pain is quite bad but I am somewhere very rural and won't be able to get to a doctors for another 3 days.
Could the coil have brought on a light period? Or is this a normal thing to happen?

Sounds normal to me. I haven't had a copper coil (I had the Mirena) but it's normal to have spotting and cramping for a while.
Are you having it checked in a few weeks?
