Copper coil

I'm thinking of getting one of these. Had one on the past and I bled badly each month.

I'm thinking that as I am breast feeding I probably won't get my periods back for a while (I was without periods for 10 months with my last breast fed daughter). Would I suffer with heavy bleeding again or would it have settled on say 9 months time when I get my periods back?

I got the copper coil while I was breastfeeding and had heavy 7 day long periods every 21 days. Breastfeeding didn't change that.

Got the mirena now, and no periods at all.

Did you stick with it for a while widow or did it get too much?

I have the copper coil. Was breastfeeding when first got it but have since stopped and have had 3 periods. All quite heavy. Using super plus tampons and having to change at night (tmi! Sorry). Only really heavy for 3 days but lasts 6. I am going to stick with it for another 3 periods and see how I feel. The mirena didn't suit me.

I've had a copper coil for years and it hasn't made my periods any heavier or lighter. I like it as I can forget about it and I don't like hormonal based contraceptives (turn me into a moody psycho bitch!)

Give it another go and if it plays hell with your periods you can always get it taken out again

I think I will try it again. I don't fancy anything hormonal (I'm moody at the best of times!)

I started taking cerazette to halt the period after 5 months or so. Had the Mirena for 2 months now and seems to be best of both worlds
