Forgot pill, then left it. Now I got my period...

...If I take a pill today (first day of the period), will I be protected? I forgot to take the pill mid-packet, when travelling, so would normally have had 10 more pills to take.

how long ago did you stop them? Are you having a withdrawal bleed or are you back on your normal cycle again. If it is just a withdrawal bleed then you should take extra precautions for 7 days. If you are back on your normal cycle then you would be protected straight away

I've done this before, if youre on combined pill, do you know you can miss one pill at any point in the pack and be fully protected still?

A pill is missed only when its more than 24 hours late from when you should have taken it (not 24 hours after previous one as many wrongly think) so you can skip a whole day but no more without needing extra precautions?

Not trying to scare you but by stopping a pack early you actually put yourself at risk of pregnancy if you had unprotected sex in the previous seven days. Its actually one of the worst things you can do- by stopping a pack early you can ovulate and sperm from sex on days earlier could be around to fertilise it. Unlikely now (but possible as your bleed now is only a hormonal bleed) but always a possibility. Much safer to carry on pack using extra precautions for seven days.
