Copper Coil experiences?

Hi I decided to go off taking hormones to give myself a break as I've been taking the pill for years. Have opted for Copper coil (mini) but at time of fitting I was having a breakthrough bleed as had not long been on another type of pill that reeeeeally didn't work for me. Anyway, had some light bleeding after coil fitting for about a day or so after fitting which could have been the tail end of the break through bleed - no idea, then about 3-4 days of nothing, then have had heavy period like bleeding and cramps for 7 days (day 7 now) My question is really about bloating. I've had that increase rapidly since this bleeding started - could that be just period related / hormones settling or could this be a permanent thing? I've mainly wondered as I've googled (I know bad!) and have read that a lot of people have permanent bloating / weight gain on the copper coil. Hoping it will go away when bleeding stops.
Any experiences with this much appreciated!

Hi - I had a copper coil for years & didn't really have an issue with bloating, except sometimes just before my period... You might have to give things a chance it settle down a bit, perhaps it's a hangover from the pill you were on, and you body just needs to get back to its natural state?

I've had one for nearly a year now. It made my periods heavier to start off with but they've settled down now. I was about to say it's also relieved my monthly thrush and agonizing cramps but I actually think that's down to the mooncup not the coil.

I know copper coils get a bad press but I've liked this one - will be TTCing shortly and having it out, but I think I will have another in the future.

I've had a copper coil since 2009. In the first year I regularly came close to marching round to the GP to beg them to take it out due to much heavier (flooding) more painful periods but I didn't experience bloating and the heavy periods sorted themselves out. I'll get another.

Thanks all. Today the bleeding (assuming period) is still here (manageable with normal tampon use) and on day 8. I'm assuming it won't be like this every month. The bloating is slight better today. I'm hoping the bloating is only due to first period since fitting etc. otherwise I have had no probs - can't feel it or anything and wasn't too bothered by insertion. Will persevere. Appreciate your replies and any others!
