Cerazette... Keep forgetting to take it

I have a 4 month old, very rarely dtd anyway, but I cannot seem to remember to take my pill, even with the huge 12 hour window. Do I just take it when I remember, 5-6 times a week, hoping that it'll provide a wee bit of protection ontop of ebf; or stop taking it and get a coil knowing that I want to ttc again by around January/February so will have to have it removed.
where is that male pill they promised us a decade ago?

set an alarm on your phone!

In fact set two!

I have! It's the whole reason I never ever went on the pill. Is it pointless taking it 5-6 times if I'm always going to forget once?

It won't provide 'a wee bit of protection' - it'll leave you at risk each and every time you leave an extended gap between pills.

The contraceptive effect of EBF doesn't last beyond 6 months and isn't reliable enough if another pg now would be disastrous.

If you really can't remember to take the pill properly, you need a long lasting method. So yes, a coil might be a good choice.

Unless you wouldn't actually mind conceiving before January, of course.

Can you try keeping it next to something you use at the same time each day? I always used to keep mine by my toothbrush, and a friend keeps hers in her glasses case.

I take mine with my cup of tea in the morning. That helps me remember.

ilovepowerhoop · 04/10/2013 07:30

mine sat on a cabinet beside the bed and it was the first thing I did when I got up in the morning

Notyetthere · 04/10/2013 07:44

I have an alarm on my phone that reminds me to take it. It's the last thing I do before I go to bed.

You have 3 choices:

Take the pill properly
Have a coil (or other no effort contraception)
Get pregnant sooner than you'd want to
