In need of advice please. I'm 47 years young and due to have my mirena coil removed in May this year as my 5 years is up. I've had one fitted every 5 years since my youngest was born 16 years ago and have had no issues apart from the fitting which was horrendous the last time. My womb is tilted apparently, hence the pain and discomfort.
I don't really know what to do, nurse advises having one one more fitted as I may be still fertile
and I don't really fancy pill or condoms again. Would you just take a chance at my age and not bother as realistically how many women get preg at 47/48? At what age would you/did you stop using contraception? I suspect I'm heading towards menopause (very occasional hot flush) but as I haven't had a period since having Mirena I'm unsure as to how regular or not my periods would be.
The thought of enduring another fitting is horrific but then I don't relish the thought of another pregnancy. If it did by some miracle occur I would see it through and have the baby. My lovely hubby would, I'm sure, have the snip but we have 2 friends who had complications after their vasectomies so I'd rather him not. I've made an appointment to see my doctor to discuss but would be interested in peoples opinions. Thx
