Bleeding in between periods is driving me nuts

I've been on the pill for years, various ones and am currently on Yasmin. I was an dianette for years for my skin as it tends to be really bad and dianette seemed to control it the best.

My problem is that after being on a pill for 1 year I start to get bleeding in between periods, my skin goes crazy and I feel pmt symptoms for pretty much the whole month.

I am 40 have mild fibroids and an ovarian cyst that has been around for years. I do get "hot spells" at night and do feel very tearful a lot of the time. Usually the doctor will change my pill and I'll be ok for a year till it all starts again.

My question is this normal. I feel crap and old most of the time but don't know what other options I have. I have tried the injection but this made my skin really bad and I had a lot of bleeding in between. Can anyone suggest altnernatives, I do feel like I am going nuts!!!!!

Have you been for a gynae appointment recently? Mid-cycle bleeding should always be checked out (are you in date for smear, have your fibroids grown, have you developed a polyp etc). They should also be able to advise on whether there are any hormonal options likely to be less hostile.

Do you want to keep open the option of future children? If not, this might be the time to consider getting your tubes tied or DH/DP snipped.

Have booked in for a smear test on Thursday and was hoping to speak to nurse about my options then. its been 3 years since my last smear and about 2 years since that gynae appt so yes it may time time for another referral. Def don't want anymore children so will read up on your suggestion on tying tubes as I don't know much about it. Thanks
