Misscarriage?

Okay so me and my bf have decided we are ready to try for a baby. We have been trying for 5 months now with no luck - I know some couples take years to get pregnant but due to complications before I am a bit concerned.
When I was 15 I got raped and ended up pregnant - I had an abortion. Then when I was 17 I was told I had a cyst on my ovary so had an op to get this removed - when the doc went in it had disappeared. I then fell pregnant with my long term bf when I was 18 but the relationship was too disfunctional to bring a baby into so we decided (much to my regret) to terminate this pregnancy.
Since then I have always had bad tummy pains etc but my period has always been on time etc.
September 2012 and it was my bday and I ha arranged a weekend away with my bf so I took a tablet to delay my period. We don't use protection as we are trying for a baby. When I finished taking the pill to delay my period I was told my period should start the next day. But it ddnt. Infact I didn't get it until the 31st October. I had signs of pregnancy inbetween - tender breast, bloating, sickness - however I had 3 negative tests so I just assumed I wasnt pregnant.
I didn't get a period through the whole of November and then only had a few days of spotting during December. I tried not to think too much about 'getting pregnant' as I thought this night help. I ddnt do a test either.
On the 14th of this month I went to the toilet in the morning and had a pretty large blood clot. About 2 inches long and and inch in width. It was very dark red/black and had a white/grey - what can only be described as a prawn like shape - near the outside lining. I'm really confused as to what this is. I have a docs appointment booked for tomorrow, but I'm really confused and scared as to what they might say.
Does anyone have any idea? Do you think I should do a fertility home test?
Thanks for any help given... X

Hi, I didn't want to leave your message unanswered. I'm sorry to hear you have had such a difficult time of it. I am not an expert but have had several miscarriages myself and think you may have had an early miscarriage. If you're not bleeding heavilly at the moment I would just take it easy and wait to see what the doctor says tomorrow. I passed a big clot with a greyish mass during one of my miscarriages.

Please don't worry though as plenty of women miscarry and go on to have a healthy baby at a later date. Also, 5 months to get pregnant is pretty quick so please don't stress too much.

Good luck for tomorrow.
