Mirena coil replacement

I'm due to have my Mirena coil replaced in March. I've got on really well with it, and as there's no chance of DH having a vasectomy, I'm going to need to need to sort it out! So what I'd like to know is: is it any more traumatic than having it done the first time? Do they take the old one out and replace it with a new one at the same time? Can't say as I'm looking forward to it, but I don't really have any other option (I get very bad migraines, and I need a very reliable form of contraception - my ds1 has Spina Bifida, and an accidental pregnancy could result in another baby with SB).
Thanks in advance for any advice Smile

Oh, and how long before the date on the form I was given that says when it runs out, do I need to get it replaced? Does that make sense? Sorry if it doesn't, but I can't phrase it any other way!Confused
