Couldn't get the Mirena in

So, I went to my local family planning clinic to get the Mirena fitted. After a lot of prodding and poking we ended up with my leg over the nurses shoulder and they still couldn't get the damn thing in.

So, they asked me to come back when I had my period as my cervix would be more central (?). Which I did and they still couldn't get the damn thing in.

I have been referred to the hospital but it is far away and hard to get to. I just don't know if I am wasting my time or not.

I mean, I need contraception but what if they still can't get the damn thing in?

Has anyone had this? Or know someone who has this problem? Did they ever manage to get it in.

I think it was the speculum they were struggling with. I never had any problems with smear tests or checks when I was pregnant.

I wouldn't worry, it probably means your womb is retro flexed ( means it bends backwards) entirely normal for some women but means getting the coil in maybe a little more tricky for fp services and needs a real specialist.

Thank you so much. I will give it a final try then. Fingers crossed!
