Mirena - heavy, bright red blood. Normal?

I had a mirena fitted nearly 4 months ago, and pretty much spotted until about a week ago. Not a lot, but enough to be annoying.

So I stopped bleeding about a week ago and finally thought it was settling, but for the last couple of days, I've experienced bright red blood loss, quite heavy (need to change mooncup every 2-3 hours), and some cramping, which is uncomfortable but not very painful.

I was thinking i'd give it 6 months, but feel a bit freaked out now.

Is this normal?

have you checked for the strings to see if it is still in place? Maybe visit it your gp or family planning clinic if the bleeding continues

Luckily, the bleeding subsided this evening, and I had a poke around - can't feel the strings at all Confused.

One thing I do think since the birth of dc is that everything seems to have "dropped" down there this time. I told the doctor this when the mirena was checked at 8 weeks, but she said she couldn't see anything out of the ordinary.

Will see what happens overnight and check again tomorrow.
