clomid - anyone know how it works?

I got PG the first time I was prescribed Clomid after a blood test but my Dr didn't even go into detail about how it works he just said "take this your hormones are low"

So this is very retrospective but in case I need to take it again I would love to know how it worked for me...

This area is really for those of us who don't want to get pregnant - you'll probably have better luck in conception.
