I have been put on Noriday and it is my 4th day taking it. I have started to feel weepy and low. Has anyone else experienced this?

Hi, my experience is that of the depo injection. I had suicidal thoughts and profound acute depression. Never experienced it before and have never expereinced it since coming off....very very frightening and out of character.

For this reason, i have enquired very thoroughly regarding the various progesterone only pills. I have been told by more than one HCP that depression is indeed a side effectof some kinds of pill.

Not 100% sure about Noriday, but have you googled it?

Thanks for the reply, googled and it is a common effect. Wouldn't mind but I told gp I was prone to depression (had severe antenatal and postnatal depression)
I am going to go back and ask for another opinion on what method of contraception to use.

yes, had to come off it because of this. and yes, doctors were fully aware of my MH history and didn't seem to see an issue Hmm. Cerazette has mostly been OK for me though.

I've just come of cerazette because I was having a bleed for 20 days of the month and it was making me drained. Not having much luck with the pill at the moment.

I see the topic is over a month old now but just wanted to add my two pennies worth. I came off Cerazette about 6 weeks ago due to 5 weeks straight of bleeding, but ontop of that and mostly importantly it made me feel depressed and even suicidal, which I have never been through before, it was indeed very frightening. Through a friend recommendation, I asked my doctor to try me on Noriday. I'm a couple of days into my 6th week on them, and even though I have had normal periods thus far, my moods are no better really. I am constantly crying, depressed, I feel paranoid and nervous all the time. I never felt like this before going on Cerazette, and I was totally fine in the space between changing pills. I was trying to give this mini pill a bit more of a chance, to see if my body would adjust, but quite frankly I feel like I've just hit puberty again, but much more hysterical and sad all the time. Some women are fine on Cerazette or Noriday, and unfortunately others aren't. If you feel secure enough to see if you will get used to them, then it's worth a shot, otherwise steer well clear of mini pills and look into other forms of contraception.
