What are my options?

I am reluctant to use anything that might cause my periods to become heavier as past experience has been that if something can cause that, it will.

I'm breastfeeding and plan to be for a while yet.

Interested in any replies too-still breast feeding but will need semi-permanent contraception (don't want to use any type of pill, hate condoms but vasectomy is a step too far at the moment).

I have the Mirena coil and it really suits me - replace every 5yrs and no periods! I know some people say having it fitted is painful but I went to a family planning clinic where they fit these lots so are more expert at it than a GP or practice nurse. I also took ibuprofen and paracetamol beforehand and didn't feel a thing (wimp).

I have a mirena coil - had to say I found having it out in horrible but after cramps that night have had no problems. Don't have any periods and also as a long term depressive type haven't had any adverse impacts on my mental health (which I know is a side effect other people have had).

Another vote here for Mirena. I don't have it for contraception (DH has had vasectomy) but for heavy periods. It has changed my life! No periods, no side effects. Brilliant.
