How grim is it? And how successful?

Depends on what type of vasectomy he had and how long ago. When you meet the consultant he will tell you what to expect and the odds etc.

As a women I found my husbands hilarious, his John Wayne impression was brilliant. Also the bruising was imense and very colourful.
