I'm an idiot: just pulled out my own coil

I have had a copper coil (not Mirena). I was just checking myself as I couldn't remember taking out my last tampon, felt something and pulled - and obviously out came the coil. Firstly - I didn't think I'd be able to do that, I didn't think the string came down far enough before, so might it have shifted already? Secondly - other than having to use other methods until I can get it replaced, do I need to worry I've damaged myself? I'm feeling a little bit of cramping, but no worse than when it was put in in the first place.

Ouch! You poor thing! I wouldn't have thought you'd have damaged yourself in any way. They're designed to come out by pulling on the string. I guess you're booking a visit to the GP or Family Planning Clinic on Monday!

You guess right! Means weeks until I can get it replaced though :(

But if you have had sex in the last week or so you won't be protected from pregnancy - so you may need to take action sooner. (if you are changing from Coil to Pill you need to start pill before getting coil removed, I know someone with a surprise baby from this)

I am feeling slightly envious. Envy

I have put off getting my coil taken out for a year. It is overdue.

You won't have damaged yourself, don't worry. Coils can be pulled out v easily and don't hurt when coming out.

Yy re contraceptive cover until you get it replaced.

'Don't hurt when coming out'? Er, I beg to differ!

Not had sex in aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaages the last week so that's not a concern thankfully! (I wouldn't mind a DC3 but DH might be a touch peeved at this moment in time)
