Experiences on yasmin?

I am nearing the end of my mercilon prescription & need to find an alternative as its not available where I live. I am looking forward to stopping it as I have my suspicions that it may be giving me migraines.

I took it for years before having dd (age 3) with no problems at all, but did not get on at all with other pills (immediate weight gain & bad moods). I currently have zero libido & don't feel great in myself so I think it's time for a change.
Dsis suggested Yasmin but I am so cautious now about any kind of hormones I was wondering if anyone had any particularly good/bad experiences on it?
Thanks in advance

Same as Natasha- in fact I stayed on it even when celibate as it seemed, amongst other benefits, to keep me on an even keel emotionally.

Wow, I might have to give it a go - Thankyou

Sorry - this i bit late ! But only to add to positive experiences. I have just come to the end of my first month on Yasmin & its been fab. No bloaty feelings / no psycho hormonal swings / no spots / no break through bleeding / No weight gain !!
Huzzah.

Bit late here too but I just wanted to add to the positive experiences! Yasmin was the only one out of about 10 different pills I tried that didn't have hideous side effects. It made my periods much shorter and very regular, no bloating, no weight gain, no vomiting, nothing. I'd been on it a good 8 years up until the end of last year when we decided to try for a baby & will be getting back on asap now I have stopped bfing.
I remember my GP at the time explaining that this was a different preparation to the others (but the same hormones) which would explain why it didn't cause any of the nasty effects the others had.

Thank goodness for this thread! After many, many years of resisting the pill (bad experience with Microgynon put me off) I've started taking Yasmin. I'm nearing the end of my first pack. So far, it's been so much better than my last experience. I haven't gained any weight, I haven't bloated up too much (although I have been taking a herbal anti water retention supplement) and haven't had any headaches or nausea. The only (relatively insignificant) negative side effects I've experienced so far are spots (I shouldn't be getting spots at my age!) and slight mood swings. Nothing psychotic, just feeling a bit down and 'touchy' every now and then but at least I'm aware that my moods are being affected a little and I try to adjust accordingly.

I would like my pill taking experience to be side effect free though! Will these symptoms calm down after a while? I've read that women can experience side effects during their first few packs but that they eventually subside. Is that actually the case? I'd like to continue taking Yasmin but I'm not so keen on revisiting my teenage years where my skin and moods are concerned!
