Um, can the strings fall off a mirena coil?

Namechanged for this.

TMI but when I went to the loo earlier I found a stringy bit when I wiped and I'm now panicking that it's part of my mirena coil Confused.

It's been in over a year but about a month ago I had my first period in months. Surely I'd have noticed if it had come out? and wouldn't the strings have come out too? Hmm

Well it might be possible - my strings are lost but I think they're just somewhere inside IYSWIM - dr says I'll have to have it out at the hospital as she can't do it...

I would have thought you'd have noticed the whole thing coming out....

Could pop to the doctors and ask them to take a peek if you are concerned

It's a bit tricky with the doctors. There's only 2 at the surgery that deal with coils and both are part time and get quite booked up. Might give them a ring in the morning and see what they suggest or if they might be able to fit me in.
