Mirena Coil: Stuck!

HR1983 · 25/10/2011 22:43

I went to have my Mirena Coil taken out a couple of weeks back and neither the doc or nurse could get it out... The strings are still there it just won't budge without it causing me pain. I'm going to see the gynaecolgist in a couple of weeks time... Has anybody had a similar experience? I am pretty frightened... I don't have any children and I'm terrified that something could be wrong or something will happen to stop me having little ones... Thanks so much!

The first coil I had got stuck, they had cut the cords to short and only the gynaecolgist was able to remove it without to much hastle.

They are much more skilled at it then a doc or nurse. So hopefuly they'll be able to sort you out without to many problems

Don't worry, it's fairly common..some larger hospitals have whole clinics every week dedicated to 'problem coil removal' (note that it is the coil which is the trouble and not your 'bits'!)
They usually try a bit of local anaesthetic cream on your cervix (like kids have on their arms for a blood test) to make it much more comfortable.
I can't imagine it will afect your future fertility in anyway, so please don't worry at all x
