WWYD regarding MAP?

Had a condom split last night. I'm breastfeeding & haven't had a period since January. Pharmacist won't give me one due to that so will have to be a GP visit

Last time I took MAP I was very unstable emotionally for a week afterwards (don't react well to hormones/severe PMT etc) so we said never again.

But although we want dc4 ,dd3 is only 7 months and my 3rd section+ severe SPD means im still not 100% so a pregnancy wouldn't be great for me physically.

Dh says not to bother & risk it as it took ages to get pg with dd3.

So I have until 9am to decide on Making a GP appt.

I would take the MAP.

PfftTheMagicDragon · 24/05/2011 07:54

Do you want a baby now? (or in 9 months?)

If you do, then leave it.

If not, take the MAP. If you don't - do not risk anything.

Want yes , pregnancy within 9 months no!

Initial response qas to take iy, I'm just a bit scared of the emotional aspect. Last time I was a wreck & luckily dd1/2 were at their dads. This time I'll be at home with 3 while dh is at work.

Psyched myself up & can't get an appt! Never had that there before they are usually really easy. Nothing until thursday so have booked a phone call. Do you think they can prescribe over the phone?

If it's like my surgery, the doc will call to see how urgent it is. Once they know what you need they will either squeeze you in for a consultation or leave a prescription for you to pick up.

HarrietJones · 24/05/2011 10:54

Think that would do. Never had it with this surgery before! It's usually v easy to get an appt

Do you have a walk-in centre anywhere near you? They can give them out although you'll probably have to wait for a while. Or could you go to a different chemist and just lie about the lack of periods etc?

I know what you mean about the emotional thing, the only time I ever took the MAP I was in bits for about two weeks afterwards. At least you know to expect it this time and can be kind to yourself.

HarrietJones · 24/05/2011 11:15

Only one chemist here, no walk in centres!

Phone call should do for this though shouldn't it

Done! It's different to last time so fingers crossed it doesn't have the same affect

Good news! Hope the side-effects aren't too bad this time.

HarrietJones · 26/05/2011 10:46

Bit of a wreck today. Couldn't sort myself out this morning to go to toddler group. Helping at dd2s school this afternoon just to try & force myself to stay distracted.

Have a headache & am exhausted too. Not sleeping well last night & not down to dd3.
