Hi I recently went to get the mirena coil fitted I was on the pill for 4 years after the birth of my daughter, after a very painful attempt at getting it inserted including the use of a local anaesthetic it was unsucessful due to my womb being closed!. I didn't think much about at the time due to being traumatised but I am now concerned over whether i should be worried about this or not? as I woud like to try for another baby in a few years time and unsure if this will cause me problems just wondered if anyone had a similar situation. I have since had the contraceptive injection in the meantime.

I don't know about your womb being closed.

But with regard to your mirena being fitted - it IS painful - I've just had my 3rd one (in 10 years) and my first words to the dr.......'can you use local anaethestic?' - she only used that gel stuff and it still bloody hurt.

I would start another thread with the title 'anyone had a closed womb' to try and drum up a bit more help Smile
