Positive thoughts on cerazette?

Hi, I am brand new to Mumsnet so please forgive me if this is something which has been covered ad infinitum! I checked through old threads and seemed to not have been specifically raised for a while. I am keen to hear good things about this pill?
My history is that I was on Femodene for years (very positive experience) had two children in quick succession. For reasons now unfathomable to me I was given the Mirena after baby 2 (despite history of ovarian cysts) and had that for 3 years - not good overall experience. Went back on Femodene, developed Migraines, taken off Femodene, used condoms for 2 years (aaaaargh!) and now it seems my only pill option is Cerazette, because of Migraines. I am a bit nervous, after Mirena, about hormones, but because of migraines my options appear limited. We are moving slowly (!) towards the snip, but I don't want to pressure DH too much.
So, I am really wanting Cerazette to be good for me - I don't have history of depression, although was snappy on Mirena, or a tendency to gain weight (apart from too many cakes!) so am hoping that I may be lucky? Anyone else had similar and found Cerazette a happy compromise? Thanks

I had to move from the combined pill (Microgynon) to Cerazette last August due to having a visual migraine and developing high blood pressure. Cerazette has been ideal for me- it stopped my periods almost immediately and I feel fine on it. My blood pressure is now normal and no more migraines. No weight gain and skin if anything better than when on combined pill (though initially it went worse). I would recommend it but it doesnt suit everyone from what I have read on here..

Thanks for your response> I guess not everything is going to suit everyone. I will give it a go!

I was on Cerazette for 6 years as I was taken off Microgynon because of high blood pressure. Not a single period in that time which was lovely. No weight gain, no mood swings. I did have a period of depression but it was totally unrelated to the pill. I came off it as we were TTC, which we did sucessfully within 6 weeks. It was great for me.

We're using condoms at the moment as we're 'between children'. If / when we manage a DC2 though, I'll go back on it till DH has the snip.

I'm very pleased with Cerazette as it stopped my periods after a year, and it hasn't really afected my moods. It possibly has slightly increased my appetite tho.

Hi unlike the positive responses youve seen here my experience with cerazette was not as good. I went on to cerazette after my first child was born since I was breastfeeding a combined pill was not an option. It made my periods go wild I had a period every two weeks and constant spotting between periods, it was as if I had an ongoing period. I did not have any depression or any skin problems and I became extra ordinarily skinny on cerazette (probably because i was BFing and I am NOT a big eater) besides for the bleeding issue which is what made me get off it, it was a fine pill. I dont think I will try hormonal BC again for now I am using barriers. good luck
