2 days post Mirena fitted

HI had the Mirena coil fitted 2 days go after being swayed by the doctor and nurse away from the copper coil. They had problems fitting it and it took over an hour. I've had cramping since and wondered if this is normal. Also woke up this morning feeling sick. I'm really hoping that it does suit me but just worrying about the cramping/period like pains as the leaflet I was given when had it fitted doesn't seem to mention it

Thanks

Cramping pains are normal. Surprised your doctor didn't mention it tbh. Mine said to take it easy for the rest of the day after having it fit and to expect period like pains.

Thank you both for responding. Its finally worn off today, guess time to sit back and wait for the spotting to commence

I had a light period for the first 7 months. It was nothing compared with my previous painful HEAVY periods.

shesparkles · 20/03/2011 21:09

Mine settled down very quickly-hardly any spotting at all.
With a break for a pregnancy,(and 1 month to conceive!) I've had a mirena for the last 11 years-wouldn't be without it!

Just hadmine fitted 4 hours ago having cramps but much better than the painful periods i was having also feeling a little sick doctor said i should be beack to normal in a couple of days.

Yeah I felt a little sick too maypole1. The doctor did say to try persevere with any symptoms for the first couple of months as the benefits after are very good. Cramps have gone now I'm just very aware of that area, if that makes any sense. May be imagining in but my boobs seems bigger...not a bad thing Smile

I had no spotting, just my usual periods, but the cramping was horrific - i went back to the docs in the end and got some great anti cramping pills which really helped!
