Having a mirena replaced after 5 years

Hi, have read all the mirena threads here and still just need a bit of advice. I am due to have my mirena replaced tomorrow after nearly 5 years of use. I had it put in 6 weeks after delivering twins so things were obviously not totally back in shape and apart from a pinch and a loud 'ow' it was not too bad. I am now in a right tizzy about tomorrow and having it removed and replaced. I have some nurofen plus and some co codamol to take and will be driving myself. Does anyone have any experiences that might be helpful? Thanks

I'm in the same boat, except I've only had mine 10months but I feel it has to go because although it's made my periods lighter and less painful, it's made them 2weeks long and painful throughout, rather than just the first day, which was horrendous but predictable at least! I think we are also going to start trying for a baby in May and I want to be 100% fertile and ready!

Thing is, I had it put in under anaesthetic so it was all fine but now I want it out I've realised how phobic I am of anything 'going on' down there and I'm absolutely dreading it....I won't have a coil again I don't think, as it just feels so out of my control....
