Copper IUD Side Effects

I've already decided to have my IUD removed after just 8 weeks (due to pain and almost constant bleeding).

About a week after I had it fitted, I noticed some incontinence... leaking all the time, and not realising it. Is this a side effect anyone else has experienced, or do you think it's caused by something else?

I've got a six yr old and a 12 week old, and never had a problem with incontinence before.

Hi
I had a copper coil and got on well without once it settled down but it too a little while. I didnt get bad bleeding though.

Im not sure that the incontinence could be related to this at all. Since youve recently had a baby- that is the morely like explanation. may you sneezed or exerted yourself

All the best

that should have read more likely!

I'm on my third IUD, They do have quite alot of side effects, that effect lots of different people in lots of different ways.

Usually mood swings, depression, weight gain, and odd bleeding patterns.

I think the incontinence is more likely due to your recent birth of you dc than the Implant, but i guess it's a possible effect.
I love my implant even if the side effects are a bit of a pain in the arse, Maybe ask your GP rather than Family planning clinic as they tend not to sugar coat it like the family planning people do, Once you've had the implant removed if it doesn't stop maybe try some pelvic floor exercises.

If it's not for everyone, especially if it's causing constant bleeding.

Thanks. Wish I could have kept it like you, but the pain and bleeding is getting ridiculous!

Just thought I'd check about the incontinence as it started about 5 weeks after dd was born, not straight away, and thought it was odd.

i think i bled for about 9 weeks when i got my first one. I have also found that mucking about with it, brings on bleeding (like rubbing where the implant is or using power plates at the gym)

It's quite common after you'd just given birth to experience alot of bleeding with new contraction, i'd recommend waiting until your periods return to normal for 6 months and then maybe try it again.

Hope having it taken out solves the incontinence problem though. Good luck Grin
